The Game
This Everett Silvertips perhaps weren’t as dominant Wednesday, but the result was still a decisive 6-3 victory to complete the sweep over Prince George. It wasn’t as shocking, either, given that Everett beat Prince George 4-0 Tuesday, but it certainly proved Tuesday’s win over the previously unbeaten Cougars was no fluke. A night after going 0-for-6 on the power play the Tips finished 3-for-7 on the man advantage Wednesday. Everett also allowed on power play goal as PG finished 1-for-4.
The Tips also did it without center Matt Fonteyne and defenseman Lucas Skrumeda, each of whom were nursing undisclosed injuries following Tuesday’s game. The Tips also scratched Eetu Tuulola, Spencer Gerth and Mackenzie Dwyer.
That meant some line shuffling as Connor Dewar joined Dominic Zwerger and Patrick Bajkov on the top line. Brandson Hein, Devon Skoleski and Graham Millar played on the second line. On defense Jake Christiansen joined Noah Juulsen on the top pairing.
The Tips have now scored first in seven of the eight games they’ve played this season, so clearly getting on the board early is a key for this squad.
This victory capped a busy news day that saw the Tips add a key offensive prospect.
The Turning Point
Brett Kemp’s goal extended Everett’s lead back to 6-3 after the Cougars had moved within two at 5-3 late in the second period.
