It’s been quite a grueling stretch for the Everett Silvertips, but a very successful stretch nonetheless. The Tips won their third straight on Saturday and went 5-2 in a seven-game stretch that lasted 11 days.

While the penalty killing streak ended at 26 straight with Vancouver’s third-period goal, the power play appears to have righted itself. The Tips were 3-for-7 on the man advantage and now have scored power-play goals in four straight after struggling for most of the month of November.

It’s been a stretch of milestones as goalie Carter Hart tied and then broke the franchise record for career shutouts on back-to-back Wednesdays. Patrick Bajkov’s shorthanded goal against Seattle on Nov. 17 propelled him into second place in points in franchise history. Martin Fasko-Rudas scored his first career WHL goal on Thanksgiving Eve and Wyatte Wylie did the same Saturday.
Everett is currently in the first Western Conference wild card spot and just one point behind the Spokane Chiefs for third place in the division, though the Chiefs have three games in hand. Moreover the Tips trail Portland by 10 points for the division lead, and the Winterhawks have four games in hand.
I haven’t looked closely at the performances of other goalies around the league, but you’d have to think Hart would be a shoe-in for consecutive WHL Goaltender of the Week honors. He went 3-0 with a shutout, a .971 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average in Everett’s three wins this week.
