JR Thomas broke a six-year winless streak in the Frontier Chevrolet/Speedway 600 sprint car division on Saturday, May 16 at Deming Speedway.

Kyle Johnson took the initial lead and led the first 20 laps before getting a tire run over by another car that did not see the caution lights. Johnson went to the pits to fix the flat giving the lead and the eventual win to Thomas.

Derek Holmwood became the first multiple time winner in the Lifestyles RV 1200 class. Using the bottom of the racetrack, Holmwood hooked up hard coming out of turn two and shot underneath race leader Aaron Fell down the back stretch to take the lead on lap 11. Fell challenged Holmwood for the next few laps, but Holmwood was too strong and pulled away for the win.

Jacob Buckenmeyer won his first race of 2008 in the PMP Chassis 600 Restricted class. Buckenmeyer inherited the lead after Rece Goetz lost power on lap 15. Buckenmeyer coasted to the win, the first ever win for a Triple X Race Co. chassis on Triple X night. Chase Schmidt took home second after leading the first 12 laps.

Spud Allen won the Advanced Sprint Car and Toys for Trucks 250 main event. Allen tangled with race leader Jake Benson on the front straightaway on lap 5, causing Benson to swerve into the front stretch wall and bringing an end to his evening. Allen apologized to Benson in victory lane, saying he thought he had more room to make the pass.

Skyler Pawlowicz won his second race in a row in the Kasey Kahne Junior Sprints. A lap 13 yellow bunched the lead pack up, and Pawlowicz went to the bottom of turn 2 to take the lead coming to the white flag. Gregory Hamilton took second and Austin Sheridan was third.

Next week is Little Ceasars night at Deming Speedway. All five classes will be in action. For ticket info or driving directions visit www.demingspeedway.com,
