Relay sweep helps Everett beat Mariner

MUKILTEO — Everett swept all three relays and had strong performances from its underclassmen to cruise to a 115-58 non-conference meet victory over Mariner Thursday.

"I’ve got some really strong freshmen and sophomores leading the way," said Everett coach Graham Reichmann.

Kamiak defeated Cascade 149-32 in the other non-conference meet at Kamiak pool.

Seagull freshman Brian Tarr won both the 200-yard individual medley and the 500 freestyle and was on two of the three winning relay teams to lead the way for Everett (1-0 overall).

Dan Erickson and Matt Kaftanski also added two individual victories for the Seagulls. Erickson swam the last leg in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.

"We swam real well today," Reichmann said.

Joel Holyan took first in the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly to pace Mariner (0-1).

Kamiak freshman Zach Harrington (56.69 seconds) set a school record in the 100 butterfly in his first high school meet to lead the Knights over Cascade.
