The Seahawks made their cuts today to get their roster down to 53 players, but that doesn’t mean they have their opening day roster in place.
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider love to tinker, and if the past two years are any indication, more moves are coming this weekend. Now it should be noted that the Seahawks are much happier with their talent and depth than they have been in their first two years under Schneider and Carroll, so the roster churn should not be as significant.
“You can tell how much we’ve improved, depth wise on the roster, compared to where we were the last couple of years just by the speed on the football field and the guys playing so hard all the way throughout the four quarters,” Carroll said after Thursday’s preseason win over Oakland.
Even so, it seems inevitable that some moves will come in the next couple of days.
So in light of that, a look back at the post-cut-day moves the Seahawks have made the last two years under Carroll and Schneider:
2011

Released Pep Levingston, Jeff Reed, Junior Siavii and David Vobora. Claimed off of waivers Landon Cohen, Steven Hauschka Jarriel King and Al Woods.
2010
Day after cut day
Release Kevin Ellison, Steve Vallos and Mansfield Wrotto. Claimed off of waivers Evan Dietrich-Smith and Nate Ness. Traded for Stacy Andrews.
Two days after cut day
Released Jordan Babineaux, Owen Schmitt and Kevin Vickerson. Signed Raheem Brock, Michael Robinson and Junior Siavii.
Three days after cut day
Released Craig Terrell, re-signed Babineaux.
