Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said it’s “truly a treasure” to have son Nate on his coaching staff in Seattle, and now Carroll will have two sons working under him, with Brennan set to join the Seahawks after four seasons at the University of Miami, according to the Sun-Sentinel.
Brennan Carroll, who also worked under his father at USC, will be an offensive assistant. Younger brother Nate is the Seahawks’ assistant receivers coach. Brennan Carroll, who started at Miami as a tight ends coach, was most recently the Hurricanes’ wide receivers coach and national recruiting coordinator.
Asked before the Super Bowl about having Nate on Seattle’s coaching staff, Pete Carroll said, “It’s truly a treasure for me. To have the chance to have Nate to be on this staff and watch him develop over the years he’s been with us and grow as a coach. To compete with your son, really at this level, to battle and to work day and night to try to figure out ways to try to win football games and you’re doing it with those that you love, it just makes it a cherished time for us. More so maybe for me than him, but I feel very fortunate that we get to do that together.”
The Seahawks should be adding to their defensive coaching staff soon after losing defensive coordinator Dan Quinn to Atlanta, linebackers coach Ken Norton Jr. to Oakland and defensive assistant Marquand Manual to Atlanta. While nothing has been announced by the team, the expectation is that current defensive backs coach Kris Richard will be promoted to replace Quinn.
