SEATTLE — The University of Washington announced through its website Friday that football coach Steve Sarkisian has been given a two-year extension and is now under contract through the 2015 season.
Sarkisian’s deal is scheduled to pay him $2.25 million in 2011 and increase by increments of $150,000 every year through the 2015 season, in which he will be guaranteed a salary of $2.85 million, according to numbers provided by the UW athletic department.
Sarkisian, who turns 37 in March, has a 12-13 record in two seasons at UW. He took over an 0-12 team and guided it to a victory in the Holiday Bowl in his second season at the helm.
