Rush throws no-hitter

EVERETT – The battery of Travis Rush and Braden Degamo led Mariner to a 6-0 Western Conference South Division victory over Everett Friday at Mariner High School.

Rush pitched a no-hitter to get his first win of the season and had six strikeouts and two walks.

“He (Travis) threw first-pitch strikes, kept hitters off balance,” Mariner coach Ricky Oliver said. “Travis threw with a lot of poise.”

Degamo threw out the first batter of the game. The Everett runner had reached on a walk and was trying to steal second base.

Degamo also batted 3-for-3 and added two RBI. All three hits were doubles.

Teammate Joey Matveev was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Granite Falls 11, Concrete 0: At Concrete, Josh Knudson, Jon Pennington and Josh Wammack combined to throw a no-hitter to lead the Tigers to the non-league victory. Kyle Wood was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI and Knudson had eight strikeouts and three RBI.
