GreensBoro Regional
Rutgers 53, George Washington 42: At Greensboro, N.C., Rutgers got the big early lead then held on when George Washington made its run. Now the Scarlet Knights can look forward to another matchup with Connecticut — this time with a Final Four berth at stake.
Essence Carson scored 25 points Sunday to help the Scarlet Knights beat the Colonials, sending them to Tuesday’s Greensboro Regional championship for a third meeting with their Big East Conference rivals.
Epiphanny Prince added 12 points for second-seeded Rutgers (27-6), which handed the Huskies their only loss in early February. Connecticut, the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament, avenged the 73-71 defeat by winning the rematch by 20 points earlier this month.
Connecticut 78, Old Dominion 63: At Greensboro, N.C., Huskies’ star freshman Maya Moore had 25 points and 11 rebounds in her second straight 20-point postseason performance, leading top-seeded UConn past Old Dominion.
Renee Montgomery added 13 points for the Huskies (35-1), who never trailed, shot 47.5 percent and put the game away with a 20-1 run early in the second half. They earned their 14th straight victory and claimed their third straight berth in the round of eight.
Oklahoma City Regional
Texas A&M 77, Duke 63: At Oklahoma City, Patrice Reado scored all 17 of her points in the second half and Texas A&M overcame the loss of standout Danielle Gant to beat Duke, giving the Aggies the school’s first berth in the regional finals.
Tennessee 74, Notre Dame 64: At Oklahoma City, Candace Parker matched her career best with 34 points and hauled in 12 rebounds, pushing the top-seed Lady Vols to the regional finals for the eighth straight year with a win over Notre Dame.
The 6-foot-3 All-American put back Nicky Anosike’s miss and then converted a three-point play off a transition jumper to send Tennessee into the lead with a 14-0 run early in the second half, and the Lady Vols never looked back on their way to the round of eight for the 23rd time.
