Rutgers star wide receiver Leonte Q. Carroo slammed a woman with whom he had been romantically involved into the concrete outside the football training center Saturday night, according to a complaint filed in Piscataway, N.J., municipal court and obtained by The Record on Tuesday.
He is accused of “picking her up and slamming her down on a concrete surface, injuring her left hip, both palms, left elbow and left side of the head,” according to the complaint.
The confrontation happened after Rutgers’ loss to Washington State on Saturday. Carroo was charged with domestic violence and a disorderly persons’ offense and released on $1,000 bail, according to the complaint. He has been suspended from the team. A fight between two women sparked the confrontation, two sources told The Record over the weekend.
The details came to light as prosecutors announced Tuesday that yet another player that had been on the team had been arrested.
Former defensive tackle Jamil C. Pollard was arrested on Monday and charged, along with former fullback Lloyd M. Terry, with robbery, conspiracy and burglary. They are accused of taking cash and marijuana from a student in the Davidson Hall dorms in Piscataway in December, according to a release from the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Pollard, 21, was arrested on Monday evening at the Rutgers campus and was released after posting $50,000 bail.
Terry, who previously has been charged, remains in custody at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick, N.J. His bail has been raised to $225,000. He was arrested on Friday and dismissed from the team. Pollard left the team previously.
In all, six players and three former players have been charged with violent crimes in and around the New Brunswick campus beginning last spring.
The current players were all dismissed from the team, and Athletic Director Julie Hermann has expressed her “unwavering support” for the program.
