Santa Clara fires basketball coach Kerry Keating

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara has fired basketball coach Kerry Keating after nine years.

Athletic director Renee Baumgartner announced the move Monday, days after the Broncos finished an 11-20 season.

Keating had a 139-159 record at Santa Clara and won the 2011 CollegeInsider.com postseason championship and the 2013 College Basketball Invitational postseason title.

Baumgartner said a national search will begin immediately for Keating’s successor.

Santa Clara had a 100-percent graduation rate the past eight years.
