Seagulls beat Mariner for the first time in 10 years

EVERETT – What a way to start the farewell tour.

After announcing that he will retire at the end of the season, Everett’s Paul Lawrence saw his team defeat Mariner Friday for the first time in his 10 years as head coach of the Seagulls.

Everett’s combination of Justins – Hudson and Boyce – combined for 297 yards rushing and three touchdowns and the Seagulls upset Mariner 27-20 in a Wesco South game at Goddard Stadium.

Boyce, who also added 13 tackles on defense, ran for 150 yards on 19 carries.

He added a 7-yard TD run on the first drive of the second half, giving Everett a 20-14 lead, and his 1-yard run with 5:56 remaining in the game proved to be the deciding blow.

Hudson added a 23-yard touchdown run and much of his runs set up other smaller TD runs by Andrew Skorney and Boyce.

The Seagulls’ offensive line may have been the deciding factor in the game. Thanks to the O-line Everett was able to rush for 367 yards.

Tommy Andre led Everett with 14 tackles.

Mariner back Aaron Cartwright ran 17 times for 149 yards, including a 67-yard touchdown run.

DeSimone ran for 69 yards and two scores, he also kicked in an extra point.
