Pete Carroll indicated on Monday that defensive end Greg Scruggs’ knee injury was not very serious, but apparently it was bad enough to merit a roster move, because the Seahawks placed Scruggs on injured reserve, ending his season. To fill the roster spot, the Seahawks claimed defensive end Demarcus Dobbs off waivers a day after he was released by San Francisco.
Dobbs, who is listed at 6-foot-2, 286 pounds, originally signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He has appeared in 45 games, including six this year, and also contributed on special teams.
The Seahawks also added defensive end Ryan Robinson to their practice squad. L.J. Fort and Terrence Parks, who were both waived Monday, cleared waivers, so if the Seahawks wanted to bring either of them back to the practice squad, they could do so, though a move would have to be made because Robinson’s addition makes their practice squad full.
