SEATTLE _ Kicker Brandon Coutu, center Chris Spencer and quarterback Charlie Frye were among the Seattle Seahawks players in uniform during pre-game warmups on Friday night.
Coutu has been nursing a sore groin but could see time in the final round of his ongoing battle with veteran Olindo Mare. Both are trying to replace Josh Brown as the Seahawks kicker.
Spencer has yet to play in the preseason because of a back injury. He should make his debut tonight.
Frye, who started the past two preseason games, hurt his knee in Monday’s loss to San Diego. He could see some time tonight, but most of the action will probably go to Seneca Wallace and first-year player Dalton Bell. Wallace is slated to start the game.
T.J. Duckett will start at running back, the team announced.
Matt Hasselbeck, who i s nursing a sore back, is not in uniform. Neither is linebacker Lofa Tatupu, who suffered a bone bruise in the San Diego game. Both players are expected back in time for the opener.
Several starters could get the night off. The team announced that tackle Walter Jones, wide receiver Nate Burleson, defensive end Patrick Kerney and linebacker Julian Peterson are among the players who won’t start. All three of Seattle’s starting linebackers are expected to get the night off, as are the four members of the starting secondary.
