TAMPA, Fla. — Wide receiver Billy McMullen, who came in and helped add some measure of stability to an injury-plagued position, was placed on the Seattle Seahawks’ waived/injured list on Saturday.
The Seahawks waived him to clear a roster spot for linebacker Will Herring, who had been on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform list.
McMullen would have missed several weeks even if the Seahawks had kept him because he suffered a compound fracture to his pinky finger earlier this week.
The release leaves Seattle with just five receivers on the active roster: Bobby Engram, Koren Robinson, Keary Colbert, Jordan Kent and Deion Branch. It’s unknown whether Branch will be able to play in Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay because he’s got a bruised heel.
Seattle has two receivers on its practice squad: Courtney Taylor and Michael Bumpus.
