The NFL announced today that 32 compensatory draft picks were given to 23 teams, and one of those picks is a seventh rounder (241st overall) to Seattle.
Compensatory picks are draft picks tacked on to the end of rounds that are give to teams that lost more than they gained in free agency. While Seattle signed and lost an equal number of free agents, the league’s formula determined they lost more in value than they gained. Compensatory picks cannot be traded.
With an additional seventh-round pick, Seattle now holds eight picks in next month’s draft: one first, one second, no third, one fourth, two fifths, one sixth and two seventh-round picks.
