Here’s some Seahawks injury updates:
– LB Bruce Irvin is expected to miss Sunday’s home game against the San Francisco 49ers. Irvin suffered a sprained MCL in his knee late in last Sunday’s 39-32 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Seattle coach Pete Carroll said Irvin would be out this week unless something miraculous happens, but that the team is hoping they can limit it to a two-week injury.
With Irvin out, Mike Morgan will be called upon to play strong-side linebacker against the 49ers. Morgan replaced Irvin against the Cardinals after Irvin was injured. There was some speculation the Seahawks would move K.J. Wright from the weak side to the strong side and plug in Kevin Pierre-Louis, but Carroll said he preferred to keep Wright as his normal spot, where he’s played well this season.
Carroll also said rookie DE Frank Clark will likely get a few more snaps in place of Irvin in situations where Irvin is usually used as a pass rusher rather than a linebacker.
– WR Paul Richardson’s status remains questionable. Richardson, playing in his first game since being activated from the physically-unable-to-perform list, suffered a hamstring strain while making his 40-yard catch against Arizona. Richardson underwent an MRI that showed an issue, but Carroll said Richardson feels fine. Richardson is sitting out practice Wednesday, then will test the injury Thursday.
– Carroll said CB Jeremy Lane is “going for it” this week. Lane has returned to practice after recovering from arm and knee injuries, but has yet to be activated from the physically-unable-to-play list. But Carroll said Lane will be available Sunday if he makes it through practice this week.
