A few brief Seahawks notes from Key Arena between NCAA Tournament press conferences…
—To bolster their defensive line depth, the Seahawks re-signed defensive tackle D’Anthony Smith. Smith, who came to Seattle in a trade just before the start of the 2013 season, spent all of the 2014 season on injured reserve.
—TE Tony Moeaki, who played a pretty big role in Seattle’s offense as a mid-season signing, is headed to Atlanta. Moeaki joins O’Brien Schofield as former Seahawks to follow Dan Quinn to Atlanta.
—Tarvaris Jackson, Seattle’s backup QB for the past two seasons (and starter in 2011), took a free agent visit to Miami, according to ProFootballTalk.com. Jackson is one of the better backups in the league, though because of Russell Wilson’s durability he hasn’t been needed much over the past two seasons other than in mop-up duty and for overtime coin flips. If he were to leave, the Seahawks would need to find a new backup, especially if they’re going to follow through on the plan to use B.J. Daniels—the next QB on the depth chart behind Jackson—as a receiver and on returns, something Pete Carroll has talked about both late last season and in interviews this offseason.
