RENTON — The Seattle Seahawks dipped into their recent past Wednesday, re-signing 38-year-old long snapper Jeff Robinson.
Robinson, who finished the 2007 season with Seattle, was signed after rookie Tyler Schmitt was placed on injured reserve.
Robinson lives in the Queen Anne area of Seattle and had been retired before the Seahawks called.
Tim Lindsey, who had been handling snapping duties while Schmitt was sidelined with an unspecified back injury, was not seen at Wednesday’s practice.
Kicker Brandon Coutu returned from a sore groin and was seen kicking at Wednesday’s practice. Among the players not participating were quarterback Matt Hasselbeck (back), linebacker Lofa Tatupu (knee), defensive tackle Craig Terrill (unknown injury) and quarterback Charlie Frye (knee).
Wednesday’s practice marks the only full session the Seahawks will have this week as they prepare for Friday’s preseason finale against the Oakland Raiders.
Robinson had been working with his wife’s company, 5focus, which is a physical training facility based out of Seattle.
