RENTON — Wide receiver Deion Branch is among three injured Seattle Seahawks players who won’t play in Sunday’s regular-season opener, coach Mike Holmgren said Friday.
Branch, who is trying to come back from major knee surgery in February, saw limited practice time this week but won’t play in the game against Buffalo.
Also expected to sit out the game are wide receiver Bobby Engram and right tackle Sean Locklear. Engram is nursing a shoulder injury that should keep him out about two more weeks. Locklear could be back as soon as next week from a knee injury.
Two other Seahawks won’t make the trip because they are serving a one-game NFL suspension. Starting defensive tackle Rocky Bernard was suspended for violating the league’s policy on personal conduct, while defensive back Jordan Babineaux is out because of an undisclosed violation of the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
