KIRKLAND — After growing up in Tacoma, attending Washington State University and being drafted by the Seattle Seahawks, cornerback Marcus Trufant decided to add a few more years to his in-state legacy by signing a long-term contract with the NFL team on Wednesday.
Trufant signed a six-year, $50.2 million contract with the Seahawks, who had made him their franchise player last month. Trufant gave up the franchise tag for a few more years in the area.
“Everything is playing out like a storybook,” said Trufant, who will be married to fiancee Jessica Rankin in Seattle this weekend. “I played high school ball here, played college ball here, and I’m getting married in Seattle. It’s like a dream come true.”
