Seahawks vs. Cardinals inactives: Rashaad Penny sits again

Seattle gets good news on the defensive line with Ziggy Ansah and Quinton Jefferson active.

Here are the inactives for Sunday’s game between the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals at University of Phoenix Stadium:

SEATTLE (2-1)

Inactive: FS Adrien Colbert, WR Gary Jennings, WR John Ursua, RB Rashaad Penny, CB Neiko Thorpe, FS Marquise Blair, G Ethan Pocic.

Notes: The most notable news is that Penny (hamstring), who was listed as questionable but was thought to be a strong candidate to return, sits out again. That means RB Chris Carson will likely be given the bulk of the workload again, despite his recent fumble issues. Thorpe (hamstring) and Pocic (back) also miss this one because of injury. However, DE Ziggy Ansah (back) and DT Quinton Jefferson (hip), both listed as questionable, will play. Seattle gets FS Tedric Thompson (hamstring) back, but it remains to be seen whether he reclaims his starting spot or whether the Seahawks stick with Lano Hill at SS and Bradley McDougald switched to FS. Today also marks the triumphant return of TE Luke Willson, who was signed this week after the Seahawks traded TE Nick Vannett to Pittsburgh. DE L.J. Collier, this year’s first-round draft pick, is active again after being a healthy scratch last week.

ARIZONA (0-2-1)

Inactive: P Andy Lee, WR Damiere Byrd, FS Charles Washington, C Lamont Gaillard, T Josh Miles, OL Brett Toth, DE Michael Dogbe.

Notes: The most significant piece of news about the Cardinals is that Lee (hip) won’t play. That means that just-signed Ryan Winslow will handle punting and holding duties for Arizona. Byrd (hamstring) and Washington (shoulder) had already been ruled out, while Gailliard (knee) also sits after being listed as questionable, but Byrd was the only one of the three who would have been expected to see significant playing time. Back-up NT Miles Brown (shoulder) plays after being listed as questionable.
