Some observations:
– DeShawn Shead saw every snap at strong safety this week. Dion Bailey, who took every snap last week at that position, did not play a single down on defense.
– Cornerback Marcus Burley didn’t see a single snap on defense last week, with Richard Sherman spending some snaps covering the slot last week. But Burley played essentially every snap this week. Indeed, the numbers say Seattle was in the nickel the entire game against Aaron Rodgers. It’s also worth noting that after all the build-up this week, I’m not sure Sherman lined up once against the slot receiver this week.
– The wide receiver snaps were spread out more this week. Last week Chris Matthews and Ricardo Lockette barely played on offense as rookie Tyler Lockett was used extensively as the third receiver. All of the receivers rotated more this week.
– Interesting to see that third-string running back Thomas Rawls saw more snaps than second stringer Fred Jackson (9-5). However, Jackson out-touched Rawls 2-0.
– Defensive end Frank Clark continues to be slowly eased into action. After dominating the preseason Clark saw just 27 percent of the defensive snaps last week, followed by 24 percent this week.
