The Tips made it two signings in two days when they announced the signing of Kohl Bauml this morning.
Bauml, a late birthdate 1994-born player, was Everett’s third-round pick in the 2009 bantam draft, and he was one of the top performers during this year’s rookie scrimmages. Bauml is a smaller player (5-foot-7), but he doesn’t play small, and he has skill.
Bauml became Everett’s third 1994-born forward to sign, joining Jari Erricson and Jordyn Boyd.
Bauml’s signing comes on the heels of yesterday’s signing of center Ryan Chynoweth, the team’s top pick from this year’s draft. The signings make the players eligible to participate in this weekend’s preseason games. I’m told Chynoweth likely won’t play this weekend. I haven’t heard whether Bauml will get into a game.

The Tips take on the OHL tonight when they face the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in their preseason opener. This is a rare opportunity to see a major-junior team from outside the WHL, so I’m looking forward to it.
Check back in tonight after the game, as I’ll be posting my usual post-game summaries following each of Everett’s contests this weekend.
