Sehome’s Stoner nets 4A singles title

EDMONDS – Sehome’s Jamey Stoner made quick work of Shorewood’s Jeff Jablonski to capture the boy’s singles championship Friday in the Northwest District 4A Tournament.

Stoner dropped only two sets in downing Jablonski 6-2, 6-0 in the tournament final after beating Jablonski’s teammate Ryan Michelson 6-0, 6-2 in the semifinal.

Jablonski beat Mariner’s Linh Tran 6-0, 6-3 in the other semifinal.

After defeating Tran in the consolation match, Michelson will face Jablonski this weekend for second place.

  • Shorewood 4, Mariner 1: Catherine Taylor scored the Marauders’ first goal of the season, but it wasn’t enough as Mariner fell to Shorewood in a Wesco 4A game.

    Goals-Mariner: Taylor. Shorewood: Wishaar, Ellingson, Gronvold, not reported. Goalkeepers-Mariner: Musseau. Shorewood: Riley. Records-Shorewood 6-1-3 in league, 11-1-3 overall. Mariner 0-10, 0-15.

  • Grace Academy 3, Lopez 2 (shootout): Grace Academy’s Peter Voges scored both goals in regulation time and also the game-clinching goal in the shootout to lead the Eagles to a win in the Northwest A/B tiebreaker game.

    Goals-Grace Academy: Voges 2. Lopez: not reported. Goalkeepers-Grace Academy: Wilkes. Lopez: not reported. Records-Grace Academy 13-4 overall. Lopez 9-6.
