From Stateline Speedway (Aug. 1, 2009)

POST FALLS, Idaho — The start of the NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 200 three-day weekend at Stateline Stadium/Speedway was a big success. Twenty-two cars started the NAPA Auto Care Centers ‘Duel for the 200’ 100-lap INSSA (Inland Northwest Super Stock Association) feature.

Zan Sharp (Wellsville, UT) won with Dave Garber (Spokane, WA) close second. Third went to Jonathan Gomez (Twin Falls, ID) and fourth to Andy Brown (Spokane, WA). The finish had the top four within :00.401 as the checkers flew.

The top six finishers have locked into the 10th Annual NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 200 on Sunday afternoon. Amanda MacDonald (Ephrata, WA) and Greg McKinley (Spokane Valley, WA) have a day to relax knowing they are into the Inland Northwest’s biggest race.

There were enough cars on hand for the opening day race that a rare Last Chance Main was needed. Christian Roeder (Ephrata, WA) climbed into a car he had not been in before the main. Coming from the back of the 8-car field in 20-laps to win and transfer into the NAPA Auto Care Centers ‘Duel for the 200’.

At 7:30pm tonight another NAPA Auto Care Centers ‘Duel for the 200’ gives six more racers a chance to lock in. The traveling Carbon X Rocky Mountain Challenge Series takes to the .250-mile high banked paved oval for a 100-lap qualifier.

The remaining spots for the start of the NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 200 on Sunday afternoon will be decided by qualifying and a Last Chance Feature. Sunday’s events start at 1:00pm with qualifying.
