Shorecrest battles Kamiak to 1-1 draw

SHORELINE – Kamiak striker Kyle Benson scored an unassisted goal in the 45th minute but Shorecrest rallied to even the score 1-1 on Elliot Richard’s penalty kick goal in the 75th minute.

After two scoreless overtimes, the Wesco South boys soccer opener ended in a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.

“Both teams had several chances to score,” Shorecrest coach Drew Thompson said.

Thompson said Shorecrest needs to find the net more if they plan to improve upon last year’s district title.

“We might have more talent than the 2005 team (that won the 3A state championship), but we need to get to know each other.”
