Shorecrest rallies from 21 back to beat Terrace

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE – The Shorecrest Scots came from way back to complete a Western Conference South Division rally and earn a 54-50 victory over the Mountlake Terrace Hawks Friday night at Mountlake Terrace High School.

Behind 48-27 heading into the fourth quarter, Shorecrest (9-4 league, 11-4 overall) got a huge performance from Mary Tseng, who scored 11 of her game-high 19 points in the decisive final period. Teammate Jocelyn Riordan added 14 points, including two 3-pointers. Shorecrest outscored Terrace 27-2 in the fourth quarter.

“Mary played a great second half and Jocelyn was steady tonight,” Mountlake Terrace assistant coach Russell Lance-Terry said.

Bianca Rowland shared game-high honors with Tseng, scoring 19 points for the Hawks.

Terrace (10-2, 11-3) is now tied for second place in the South with Jackson.

Vernon 32: At Mount Vernon, the Bulldogs had a much-improved performance from their previous 90-20 loss to Lake Stevens, but the Vikings still dominated to remain undefeated in the Wesco North and clinch a 4A District 1 playoff berth. Three Lake Stevens players scored in double digits, including Mary Ochiltree (16 points), Brittany Aanstad (11) and Courtney Fisher (10). Sylvia Howard had eight rebounds and six points for the Bulldogs.

Marysville-Pilchuck 67, Monroe 54: At Monroe, Amanda Dunbar had what Monroe coach Alan Dickson called a “phenomenal game.” Dunbar scored a season-high 34 points, 16 in the decisive fourth quarter as Marysville-Pilchuck upset Monroe in the Wesco North game. “She was in a zone,” Dickson said. Dunbar hit eight 3-pointers, four in the fourth quarter, and finished 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.

King’s 66, South Whidbey 49: At Langley, four King’s players scored in double digits, including: Danielle Clauson (18 points), Caitlyn Faidley (13), Sara Mosiman (13), and Sarah Strand (16). The Knights held S. Whidbey to 25 percent shooting from the floor in the second half of their Cascade Conference win.
