Shorewood High School’s new head football coach is Rob Petschl.
Petschl’s hiring was announced today in a release from Shoreline School District athletic director Don Dalziel.
A first-time head football coach, Petschl replaces Andrew Hershey, who resigned in November after coaching Shorewood for three seasons. The Thunderbirds were 2-28 (0-20 in division games) under Hershey, including 0-10 in 2009, when Shorewood was outscored 429-81 and failed to score in three games.
Petschl was previously defensive coordinator for five years at Bishop Blanchet High in Seattle. Before that he was an assistant at Mountlake Terrace High and Shorecrest High.
“We are excited to have someone with Rob’s credentials and coaching experience,” Dalziel said in the release.
Petschl “is well connected with the area football community and we feel this will be an asset as he builds this program,” said Dalziel. “He has been successful as an assistant coach and is ready for his chance to be the head guy.”
