SHORELINE — Shorewood High School has named Gary Harris as head coach of the boys soccer team, according to a Wednesday press release.
It marks a return to high school coaching for Harris, who in recent years has coached both boys and girls premier-level club soccer teams. Harris previously spent nine seasons combined as the head coach of the Shorewood and Shorecrest high school girls soccer teams, compiling a combined 99-45-18 record and leading the Thunderbirds to the 1999 Class 4A state title.
Harris also has been a physical and health education teacher at Einstein Middle School in Shoreline since 1990.
“We are thrilled to have Gary return to coaching high school and feel he is a great fit for the T-Birds at this time,” the release said. “Gary’s experience and commitment for high expectations and accountability were a key reason he was selected to coach at Shorewood. Gary is familiar with Shoreline, our programs and our procedures. His expectations for student success both on and off the field match our school district’s expectations.”
The Shorewood boys soccer team went 11-6-2 last season and advanced to the postseason after finishing fifth in the Wesco 3A/2A standings.
