The Everett Silvertips selected Czechian forward Dominik Rymon with their first-round pick, 57th overall, in the Canadian Hockey League import draft on Friday.

The 5-foot-11, 147-pound left winger scored 27 goals and had 19 assists in 37 games played for HC Karlovy Vary in the Czechia U20 league this past season.

In the second round Everett added Swiss goaltender Tim Metzger at 117 overall.

The 6-foot-6, 205-pound Metzger had a 3.23 goals-against average in 10 games for the GCK Lions of the Switzerland U20-Elit league this past season.

The selection of Metzger could signal the end of Czech center Michal Gut’s time with the Silvertips.

Gut, who would be entering his overage season in Everett, was still trying to decide his plans for 2022-23 as of this week. Teams are only allowed to have two European players on their protected lists.

Finnish forward Niko Huuhtanen has already signed a pro contract and won’t be returning to the Silvertips next season.
