Silvertips explode for 10 goals in win over Winterhawks

Eight different players score for Everett in a dominant 10-3 win over Portland.

EVERETT — The Everett Silvertips scored six goals in an explosive second period and stormed to a 10-3 win over the Portland Winterhawks on Friday night at Angel of the Winds Arena.

Caden Zaplinty, Jesse Heslop and Austin Roest scored in the first period as Everett jumped ahead 3-1 early.

Matthew Paszkiewicz scored the first goal of his WHL career, Raphael Pelletier scored twice, and Jackson Berezowski, Ty Gibson and Vincent Lamanna also scored in the second as the Silvertips took a commanding 9-1 lead.

Zaplinty added another goal in the third, Tyler Palmer made 22 saves on 23 shots and Tim Metzger added 13 saves on 15 shots for Everett (30-24-2-1).

Gabe Klassen scored twice and Ryan McCleary added a goal for Portland (36-17-2-3).
