Silvertips give up late lead, fall to Winterhawks in OT

Everett rallies to pull ahead in the third period, but late goals from Portland lead to a 5-4 defeat.

EVERETT — After Everett rallied to take the lead in the third period, the Winterhawks answered to force overtime and a Cross Hanas goal in the extra period gave Portland a 5-4 win on Friday night at Angel of the Winds Arena.

Jacob Wright, Jackson Berezowski and Aidan Sutter scored in a wild third period that saw the Silvertips rally from a one-goal deficit to take a 4-2 lead.

But late goals from Marcus Nguyen and Clay Hanus forced overtime and the Winterhawks were able to secure the win.

Koen MacInnes stopped 42 of 47 shots in goal for Everett (43-10-4-5-).

Taylor Gauthier stopped 40 of 44 shots for Portland (42-16-3-2).
