The Everett Silvertips have a new voice.
The Tips announced Monday that Travis Huntington has been hired as the Western Hockey League team’s radio broadcaster and director of public relations.
Huntington, a 28-year-old native of Platteville, Colo., spent the previous four seasons calling games for the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League. He was named the Central Hockey League Broadcaster of the Year the past two seasons.
“I’m thrilled to be joining a top-notch organization like the Everett Silvertips,” Huntington said in a press release. “The opportunity to work with quality people in one of the most respected franchises in the WHL is very exciting for me in my broadcasting career. I can’t wait to get started bringing Silvertips hockey to the loyal fans of Everett.”
Huntington becomes the third broadcaster in Silvertips history as the franchise enters its ninth season. He replaces Jon Rosen, who stepped down after four seasons to pursue other opportunities.
