Silvertips hold off late charge to beat rival Thunderbirds

Everett scores three goals in the second period and hangs on to beat Seattle 3-2.

EVERETT — The Everett Silvertips scored three goals in the second period and held off a late surge to beat the rival Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2 on Saturday night in matchup of the top two teams in the U.S. Division at Angel of the Winds Arena.

Ryan Hofer, Austin Roest and Jackson Berezowski all scored in the decisive send period as Everett pushed out to a three-goal lead.

Henrik Rybinski and Jared Davidson scored in the final period to make it a one-goal game, but the Silvertips held off the equalizer and earned the win.

Braden Holt stopped 24 of 26 shots in goal for Everett (11-0-0-1).

Thomas Milic stopped 30 of 33 shots for Seattle (9-3-1-0).
