Silvertips lose to Winterhawks in U.S. Division battle

Everett jumps in front early but can’t hold off Portland in a 4-2 defeat.

EVERETT — Down two goals after the first period, the Portland Winterhawks scored four unanswered and beat the Everett Silvertips 4-2 on Friday night at Angel of the Winds Arena in a matchup of the top two teams in the U.S. Division.

Alex Swetlikoff and Jackson Berezowski scored in the first period for the Silvertips to make it 2-0.

But James Stefan Cross Hanas scored in the second to even the score, and Robbie Fromm-Delorme and Stefan added goals in the third to give Portland (35-13-3-2) the win.

Koen MacInnes stopped 26 of 29 shots in goal for Everett (36-8-3-5).
