There are about 3,000 tickets remaining for Everett’s home opener Oct. 4 against Prince George, Silvertips director of marketing Zoran Rajcic said Wednesday.
A printing snafu has delayed direct sales of single-game tickets. Rajcic said the problem should be cleared up by Friday. Tickets still can be pre-ordered, but the actual tickets cannot be printed out yet.
“We want to sell it right out,” Rajcic said about the home opener. “We want to show the Western Hockey League and the rest of the county and all the surrounding counties that this is fun family entertainment.”
So far, about 2,000 season tickets have been purchased. The team wants to sell 2,500-3,000 season tickets and have an average attendance of 5,000-6,000 at the 8,250-seat Everett Events Center.
Tickets can be pre-ordered by calling 425-252-5100. Once the printing problems are cleared up, tickets can be purchased directly at the Silvertips offices, 2733 Colby Ave. In addition, tickets will be available on-line beginning Friday on the Silvertips Web site at www.everettsilvertips.com.
Tough start: If they get a victory in their first game in their inaugural season Friday night at Kamloops, the Silvertips will have little time to celebrate. They leave Kamloops immediately following the game, stop in Everett for the morning, then head to Portland for another game Saturday night.
“I’ve never done (a tough road trip) this early in the year before,” said defenseman Matt Suderman, who’s playing his fourth season in the WHL, “It’s definitely a challenge. But it’s something you have to get used to or you’re not going to survive in this league.”
The biggest issue for the players is getting enough rest, with about eight of the hours between the games spent on the team bus.
“It’s tough to get that kind of rest,” forward John Dahl said. “Especially going to Kamloops, it’s going to be tough to go back to Portland. But it’s going to happen from time to time during the year. It’s something we’ve got to deal with, I guess.”
No changes: The Silvertips made no roster moves Wednesday and plan on traveling to Kamloops with all 27 players currently on the roster. Everett coach Kevin Constantine would like to cut the roster down to 23 or 24, but wants more time to evaluate the players before making a decision.
Everett will have a short practice today at the Lynnwood Ice Center at 2:30 p.m. before departing for Kamloops at 4:30 p.m.
