The Everett Silvertips announced Thursday that they have signed Peter Melcher, their lone selection in the 2018 CHL Import Draft, to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.
Melcher, 17, is a 5-foot-9, 17o-pound forward and comes to Everett from Svitavy, Slovakia. He spent last season playing with the Slovakian Under-18 and Under-20 teams, along with the Iowa Wild AAA U-16s.
Martin Fasko-Rudas, Everett’s other European-born player, is also from Slovakia and was one of the Tips’ 2017 Import Draft selections.
“I am excited to be part of this great organization,” Melcher said in a team press release. “I’m also excited to play with a good friend of mine (Fasko-Rudas) and believe it will be a great season.”
“Peter is a forward with hockey sense, terrific skating ability and tools to become great for us going forward,” Everett gneral manager Garry Davidson said. “We’re looking forward to his arrival in training camp this month.”
