EVERETT — The Everett Silvertips took another step toward getting themselves down to the 25-player roster limit Saturday, trading enforcer Jesse Mychan to Tri-City in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2013 bantam draft.
Mychan, a 19-year-old winger from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, was in his first season with Everett after the Tips added the free agent to their 50-player protected list last winter. In 26 games Mychan had three goals, four assists and 106 penalty minutes. He also was suspended three times, including a 10-game suspension for a checking-to-the-head major penalty.
Mychan’s trade comes two days after Everett began the pairing-down process by reassigning 19-year-old center Teal Burns.
The trade leaves Everett with 27 players on the roster — 15 forwards, nine defensemen and three goaltenders. The WHL trade deadline is Tuesday.
