Scouting report
Everett (6-6-0-0) entertains its second straight East Division foe as Brandon (7-5-0-1) comes to town for the teams’ one and only meeting this season.
Brandon has played well for a team supposedly in a rebuilding year. But after a fast start, the Wheat Kings have cooled off lately, losing their past four games. That includes the first two games of their swing through the U.S. Division — a 4-3 loss at Spokane on Tuesday and a 5-4 shootout loss at Tri-City on Wednesday.
The Wheat Kings have been carried by their top offensive line of 20-year-old Tyler Dittmer (10 goals, nine assists) and 19-year-olds Andrew Clark (four goals, 15 assists) and Matt Lowry (eight goals, nine assists). Lowry’s production in particular has been a pleasant surprise.
On defense, the Wheat Kings might be without 20-year-old Daryl Boyle (two goals, nine assists), who faces a possible suspension after being given a match penalty for intent to injure on Wednesday. In goal, 18-year-old Joe Caligiuri (7-4-0-0, 2.45 goals against average, .902 save percentage) has been solid so far in his first season as a starter.
