EVERETT — The Everett Silvertips are the latest WHL team to have their scheduled wracked by postponements. But unlike the league’s other teams, it’s not because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Everett’s three weekend games were postponed because of weather conditions, the league announced Thursday.
Everett was scheduled to play at Spokane on Friday and at Tri-City on Saturday, with the Americans coming to Everett on Sunday. However, snow and freezing rain in the mountains forced the Washington State Department of Transportation to close Snoqualmie, Stevens and White passes on Thursday because of hazardous driving conditions, and it’s unlikely they will be reopened until Saturday at the earliest. Therefore, there’s no way for the teams to bus to one another’s locations.
The three postponements join a host of games league-wide which had to be postponed over the past week and this weekend because of COVID-19 outbreaks among teams.
The rescheduled dates are yet to be determined.
