KENNEWICK — Jake Christiansen netted his second career hat trick, Jalen Price added a pair of goals and the Everett Silvertips crushed the Tri-City Americans 8-1 on Wednesday evening to pull within one point of the idle Portland Winterhawks for the top spot in the U.S. Division standings.
The win was the Silvertips’ seventh in a row and 12th in their past 13 games.
Backup goalie Braden Holt got the start and stopped 13 of 14 shots for Everett (41-12-3-1, 86 points).
Mason Dunsford stopped 37 of 45 shots for Tri-City (17-34-4-1, 39).
The Silvertips play a home-and-home with the Kelowna Rockets on Friday and Saturday before a showdown with the Winterhawks (40-10-3-4, 87) on Sunday at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett.
