Here’s what happened Friday:
Portland 4, Everett 3
Prince George 3, Kamloops 2 (SO)
Spokane 5, Seattle 0
Here’s the standings with two days left:
7. Prince George, 68 points, one game remaining
8. Everett, 67 points, two games remaining
9. Kamloops, 64 points, one game remaining
10. Seattle, 63 points, two games remaining
What does this mean?
Kamloops is out. Seattle can only catch Everett with two wins and two Everett regulation losses. If that happens, there will be a one-game playoff for the final spot. Seattle would host that by virtue of having more wins. Everett is at Chilliwack and Vancouver the next two nights, Seattle hosts Portland and Tri-City.
Also, Everett no longer can move into fifth or sixth. Prince George’s final game is at home against the newly-eliminated Blazers, so the Cougars have to be favored in that one. That would mean the Tips need to win both their remaining games to finish seventh and face Kelowna in the first round. The eighth-place finisher gets the conference champion, either Portland or Spokane, in the first round.
