NEW YORK — Six members of the Seattle Seahawks were voted to the NFC Pro Bowl team that was announced Tuesday afternoon.
Offensive tackle Walter Jones, quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, defensive end Patrick Kerney, cornerback Marcus Trufant and linebackers Julian Peterson and Lofa Tatupu were all picked to play in the Pro Bowl on Feb. 10 in Honolulu.
It marked the first Pro Bowl selection for Trufant.
Among the other players selected to the NFC team was Washington safety Sean Taylor, who died Nov. 27 after being shot during a burglary at his Florida home. Taylor is the first player to make an all-star team posthumously in any sport since goaltender Pelle Lindbergh made the NHL All-Star game in February 1986. Lindbergh had been killed in an auto accident in November of 1985.
Both the NFC and AFC Pro Bowl rosters were dominated by players from the teams at the top of the NFL standings.
Unbeaten New England had eight players voted to the AFC team, led by quarterback Tom Brady and wide receiver Randy Moss. Dallas, tied for first place with Green Bay in the NFC, had 11, including quarterback Tony Romo and wide receiver Terrell Owens.
San Diego, like New England, had eight players chosen.
Green Bay had just three players on the team, including Brett Favre, who will start at quarterback for the NFC. It is the ninth Pro Bowl for the 38-year-old Favre, his first since 2003.
The teams were selected in voting by fans, players and coaches.
