COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The state of Washington has once again been chosen to host Skate America, the first stop on figure skating’s Grand Prix circuit.
Skate America 2012 will be held Oct. 19-21 at the ShoWare Center in Kent. It will be the third time the Grand Prix has been held in Washington. Everett (2008) drew the largest crowd ever for the event and Spokane (2002) had the second-largest. Spokane also hosted the U.S. championships in 2010 and 2007, setting records for attendance each time.
Skate America, an Olympic-style competition featuring men’s, ladies, pairs and ice dancing, is one of six Grand Prixs. Other stops include Skate Canada, Cup of China, Trophee Eric Bompard (France), Rostelecom Cup (Russia) and NHK Trophy (Japan).
