Reports the past couple of weeks indicate very good smelt jigging in Cornet Bay, with a high percentage of the fish going 7 to 8 inches. A few herring are mixed in, but your best bet to nail numbers of smelt would be by taking a boat out closer to Deception Pass around high slack.
