SEATTLE — Katie Smith scored 16 points, Lauren Jackson became the fourth WNBA player to reach 6,000 career points, and the Seattle Storm beat the San Antonio Silver Stars 84-75 on Friday night.
Ann Wauters added 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Camille Little and Sue Bird each had 12 for the Storm (15-18). Jackson finished with 11 points and now has 6,003.
Danielle Adams had 16 points and 10 rebounds for San Antonio (20-13), and Sophia Young added 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The Storm scored the first four points of the game and led all the way, increasing the advantage to 21 in the second quarter. The Silver Stars pulled to 79-75 on a 3-pointer by Shemeka Christon with 39 seconds left in the game. However, they didn’t score again and Seattle hit five free throws to seal the win.
