Snohomish avenges loss to Kamiak

SNOHOMISH – The Snohomish Panthers and Kamiak Knights were in mid-season form as Snohomish earned a hard-fought, non-league victory over Kamiak 25-21, 22-25, 26-24, 25-23 Thursday night.

“This was a fun game,” Snohomish coach Kris Little said. “Both teams were equally psyched for a rematch (Snohomish avenged last year’s loss to Kamiak). Their experience shows. There were only a few unforced errors the whole game.”

As league play begins next week, this was a good test for the North/South rivals to feel each other out. With the victory, Snohomish improved to 5-0, while Kamiak fell to 3-1.

Missing from action was co-captain Katrina Alonso, who Little called her “insane digger.” Alonso provided moral support from the bench after breaking her hand in the Kentridge tournament last week.

“We’ve got a great group of kids”, added Little, who is in her first year as Panther coach after four years with Cascade. “After losing to Kamiak last year, they told me that they really wanted this one.”

In a nip and tuck battle, no set was won by more than four points and Little pointed out that the lead was between 2-3 points for almost the entire match.
