Snohomish scores last, beats M-P 10-9

SNOHOMISH – In a game of huge momentum swings, the last shift favored the Snohomish Panthers.

Snohomish built an early six-run lead, lost it, then rallied for a 10-9 victory over Marysville-Pilchuck on Friday in a game to decide the Wesco North’s final berth into next week’s Class 4A District Softball Tournament.

“It was a pretty amazing game,” Snohomish coach Lou Kennedy said.

Snohomish scored four runs in the first inning and added two more in the third on a two-run homer by Breonna Chrisman that gave the Panthers a 6-0 lead. But Marysville rallied to tie the score with six runs in the fourth, then added three more in the fifth for a 9-6 advantage.

With its season on the line, Snohomish answered with four runs in the sixth, getting clutch two-run singles from Whitney Hise and Elizabeth Jusko to pull ahead for good.

Chrisman finished 3-for-4 with four runs batted in for Snohomish (11-10), which plays Jackson – the Wesco South’s top seed – in the first round of next week’s district tournament.

The loss ended the season for Marysville-Pilchuck (7-12).
