Snohomish secures District 1 playoff berth

SNOHOMISH – The roar of the Panthers will be heard again in the postseason.

The Snohomish Panthers girls basketball team captured a 4A District 1 playoff berth with a 51-29 victory over Cascade at the Snohomish gym Wednesday.

Senior forward Leah Nicholson and senior guard Brittney Marshall led the Panthers to a 31-10 halftime lead.

“We played well in the first half,” Snohomish coach Ken Roberts said.

Nicholson scored 10 of her 15 points and Marshall scored all 11 or hers in the first two quarters.

Spencer Nelson had 12 points to lead the Bruins.

Shorecrest senior Mary Tseng led all scorers with 16 points and added eight rebounds. Alyssa Pettigrew scored a season-high 14 to lead the Shorewood attack.
